Technical Description and Device Purpose

MagicBox®

This description is about the MagicBox® Panel device, an innovative smart home solution. The MagicBox® Panel is a comprehensive smart home device that integrates various functions into one compact modular unit. It has been designed to simplify the management of home systems and functions, providing users with convenience, efficiency, and security.

The device includes a range of advanced sensors, including motion sensors, light intensity sensors, temperature and humidity sensors, and presence sensors. With these sensors, the MagicBox® Panel can respond to changing environmental conditions and perform appropriate actions. The MagicBox® Panel communicates via a wireless WiFi connection, enabling easy integration with existing home networks.

Additionally, the device uses a communication protocol with SSL security certification, ensuring the confidentiality and security of transmitted data.

An important aspect of the MagicBox® Panel is its simplicity of installation. The device can be mounted in the location of a traditional light switch, eliminating the need for additional wiring installations. This makes the MagicBox® Panel compatible with existing 230V power installations, eliminating the need for infrastructure upgrades.

The MagicBox® Panel also features a built-in simple alarm system, which can be configured to detect and report unwanted events, such as motion detection in specific areas or exceeding set light intensity thresholds. The MagicBox® Panel alarm system is capable of generating SMS and email notifications, which are sent to homeowners in case of such events being detected.

The MagicBox® Panel has been designed in accordance with safety and quality standards. It has undergone internal functional testing and meets the applicable industry norms. The architecture of the entire MagicBox® system is shown below, consisting of the MagicBox® Panel device and an optional functionality-expanding module called MagicBox® Switch. The MagicBox® Panel can operate independently without the cooperation of the MagicBox® Switch. This document describes the MagicBox® Panel module.

MagicSwitch®

MagicBox® Switch is an electronic component of the smart home system designed as an expansion module for the MagicBox® Panel device. Its main task is to provide a control interface and bidirectional communication between the MagicBox® Panel and various electrical devices such as lighting, garage doors, or entrance gates.

MagicBox® Switch features two inputs for manual triggering and two relay outputs for controlling the devices. These inputs can be activated using standard electrical switches, providing intuitive control over the device. The relay outputs enable the control of different electrical devices, allowing for flexible customization of the system to meet individual user needs.

Communication between the MagicBox® Panel and MagicBox® Switch occurs through a wireless radio connection on the 868 MHz frequency. For this purpose, the component is equipped with a certified communication module from Microchip, ensuring reliable and secure data transmission. The MagicBox® Panel" periodically polls the MagicBox® Switch for various parameters, such as input status and communication range.

Additionally, the MagicBox® Switch can be controlled using a dedicated application, enabling convenient device management through a smartphone or tablet. This feature plays a crucial role in the smart home system, providing centralized control and monitoring of various home functions.

In terms of power supply, the MagicBox® Switch is directly powered from the 230 VAC mains. To provide the appropriate voltage for the internal electronics, an isolated 3.3 V converter is used. This module is responsible for voltage conversion and delivering stable power to all components within the MagicBox® Switch.

MagicBox® Switch has been designed in accordance with safety and quality standards. It has undergone internal functional testing. Below is the architecture of the entire MagicBox® system, consisting of the MagicBox® Panel device and the MagicBox® Switch module, which is the subject of this documentation. Documentation for the MagicBox® Panel device is separate.
